BROCKPORT TO PLAY FREDONIA, BUFFALO STATE

The Golden Eagles return to the ice this Friday when they host the Fredonia Blue Devils.

Fredonia is 3-2-1. In conference play they have beaten Morrisvile twice while tying Buffalo State and losing to Plattsburgh and Postdam. They have some good firepower on the roster with Taylor Bourne having 5 goals and Marcus Ortiz and freshman Luke Rivera both chopping in with 4. Jeff Flagler will likely get the start in net as he boasts a .920 save percentage, a nice follow-up to last year’s healthy .904.

Brockport beat Fredonia twice last season, 3-0 and 4-3. The latter score will more likely represent what you will see Friday, so it will be a good game for fans to check out, one that’s certain to entertain.

Brockport then travels to Buffalo State on Saturday.

If you can make the trip to the Queen City, do it. These two teams have shared some really bad blood in recent years and I’d go so far as to say these affairs have in many cases rivaled the aggressiveness of the Geneseo games. These teams go back and forth annually: Last year, Brockport beat BS 3-0 but then lost to them 4-1 later in the season.

The Bengals are 2-2-2 and they looked particularly good in a 10-1 drubbing of Canton. Taylor Price has 5 goals and 5 assists already and junior Jake Rosen has looked exceptional. Mike DeLaVergne gets the call in net and he will not disappoint Buffalo fans with a .925 save percentage.

They have a new coach this season in Steve Murphy, so it will be interesting to see what he has in the works.

Both games have a 7:00 PM puck drop. Both games will be aired on 891. FM and online at 891thepoint.com
