BROCKPORT CONTINUES TO EXCEL; TIES 9th RANKED UTICA

Freshman Jake Taylor (Port Perry, ONT) scored a powerplay goal with 1:26 left to play in the second period as The College at Brockport Hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie with Utica College, ranked No. 9 in the latest USCHO.com poll, Saturday night at the Tuttle North Ice Arena in Brockport.

Brockport (4-8-3 Overall) opened the scoring in the first period as Chase Nieuwendyk (Georgetown, ONT) scored 6:31 into the opening period. Utica (10-3-3) tied the score eight minutes later and the first period ended in a 1-1.

Early in the second period, the Pioneers took a 2-1 lead with a shorthanded goal 2:34 into the period.
Near the end of the period, the Golden Eagles, Taylor picked up a loose puck near the Utica goal and scored the tying goal with just 1:26 left in the period.

Taylor added an assist on Brockport's first goal for a two-point night while Bobby Chayka (Hardwick, NJ), Shane Cavalieri (Richmond Hill, ONT) and Chris Luker (New Hartford, NY) each added single assists for the Golden Eagles.

(Caledon, ONT) made 34 saves for Brockport.

The tie extended Brockport's unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1) and have not lost a game since December 7 and are 2-1-2 in the last five games.
