BROCKPORT CONTINUES HOT JANUARY; BESTS MORRISVILLE 7-3

Junior Troy Polino (Limerick, PA) scored twice in the first period and freshman Jake Taylor (Port Perry, ONT) added two third-period goals leading The College at Brockport Hockey team to a 7-3 victory over Morrisville Friday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Morrisville. The same two teams will play again Saturday night in Morrisville.

Brockport (5-8-3 Overall, 2-4-1 SUNYAC) opened the scoring early as Rob Hall (Schaumberg, IL) scored 2:36 into the contest for the early Golden Eagles lead.

Morrisville (4-11-2, 1-7-1) tied the score at the 9:48 mark in the period but Polino scored twice in the final six minutes of the period and Brockport went into the first intermission with a 3-1 advantage.

In the second period, the Mustangs trimmed the lead to a single goal 4:16 into the period but James Ryan (Richmond Hill, ONT) scored a power play goal late in the period to regain the two-goal lead for Brockport and the Golden Eagles entered the third period with the 4-2 lead.

Taylor scored the first of his two goals in the final period just 1:25 into the stanza with a shorthanded goal as Brockport jumped out to a 5-2 lead. Taylor added a second shorthanded goal with 6:19 left in the third period to give Brockport a commanding 6-2 lead.

With 2:34 left in the game, Morrisville cut the lead to three goals with its third goal of the game but 21 seconds later Shane Cavaileri (Richmond Hill, ONT) sealed the win as Brockport hit the seven-goal mark for the second time in the last three games.

The Golden Eagles are unbeaten in the last four games with a 3-0-1 record.
Jared Lockhurst (Caledon, ONT) made 22 saves in the Brockport goal.
