The Athletic Department offers this recap of Tuesday's game...

The College at Brockport Men's Hockey team dropped its opening game of the 2012-2013 season to Nazareth on Tuesday night. Taking on the Golden Flyers at the Tuttle North Ice Arena, Brockport fell 7-2. Troy Polino (Limerick, PA) had the first goal of the game for the Golden Eagles.

Polino scored just 30 seconds into the first period to give Brockport the early lead. Nazareth came right back to tie the score at one. The Golden Flyers tacked on two more goals in the first session. Mark Zavorin, who scored two goals in the first period for Nazareth, finished the game with five goals.

Polino scored off of an assist from Matt DeLuca (Skippack, PA) for his sixth career goal. Trailing 3-1 in the second period, Jesse Facchini (Mississauga, ONT) netted his first goal as a Golden Eagle to bring Brockport back within one. Shane Cavalieri (Richmond Hill, ONT) and Steve Sachman (Medford, NY) were credited with the assists.

Zavorin netted the hat trick three minutes later to regain the two-goal lead for Nazareth. Three more scores in the third period put the game out of reach for Brockport.

Aaron Green (Mt. Albert, ONT) made 29 saves in net for Brockport. The Golden Eagles outshot Nazareth 38-36 on the night but failed to convert on all four of their power play opportunities.

Brockport returns to action with a pair of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchups this weekend. The Golden Eagles will open up conference play at Buffalo State on Friday night and will travel to Fredonia on Saturday night. Both games are 7:00 pm starts.
